MORGANTOWN, W.Va. — According to West Virginia safety Eric Wicks, when Arkansas completed its upset of then-No. 1 LSU on Friday, an unnamed streaker hit the halls of the Mountaineers’ hotel to revel in some birthday suit celebration.
The occasion wasn’t lost on WVU coach Rich Rodriguez, though he managed to keep his clothes on.
“How fun is this? What a great opportunity. Is this not the greatest?” Rodriguez said he told his team before Saturday’s 66-21 dismantling of Connecticut.
Well, with a fresh No. 2 ranking in the newest Bowl Championship Series standings, it’s pretty close to matching the greatest opportunity in the program’s history. It’s hard to believe we’re saying that, especially when looking at the Mountaineers’ loss to South Florida two months ago and the small margin of error typically afforded Big East teams.
