It seems that birds of a feather do flock together. A new study by members of Harvard’s Sociology Department and a UCLA sociology professor using Facebook to analyze the social habits of undergraduates shows fairly homogenous friend networks among college students.

Bowl Bender: Insight Bowl
Conventional wisdom: The battle between a potent Cowboys offense and an IU defense led by top-notch DE Greg Middleton should be one to watch, but an improving Hoosiers attack could be the key to fulfilling Terry Hoeppner’s dreams of a bowl win.
Bowl Bender: Music City Bowl
Conventional wisdom: With nearly three dozen players suspended for reasons academic and otherwise, Florida State will do well to stay in the game with a Kentucky team that is dangerous despite falling off somewhat as the season progressed.
Bowl Bender: Humanitarian Bowl
Conventional wisdom: The Yellow Jackets have the defense and the running game (RB Tashard Choice) to win this one without much from first-year QB Taylor Bennett. But every year it’s tough to know what you’ll get from the ACC team forced to travel out to Boise for the Smurf Turf bowl.
Bowl Bender: Sun Bowl
Conventional wisdom:This post-Dennis Dixon version of the Ducks doesn’t even deserve a bowl bid and stands little chance offensively against a defense that powered USF’s breakout season. Matt Grothe, the Bulls’ dual-threat quarterback, will test the Oregon defense as well.
Bowl Bender: Motor City Bowl
Conventional wisdom: The Boilermakers won 45-22 when these teams met in the regular season. But then, Purdue doesn’t have its best receiver, Selwyn Lymon, and the Chippewas won four of their final five games behind QB Dan LeFevour, who joins Vince Young as the only players in NCAA history to pass for 3,000 yards and run for 1,000 yards in a season.
