WACO, Texas — Down 60-58 to No. 25 Texas with 19.6 seconds left, Ashley Tisdale buried the game winning 3-pointer from the corner to keep sixth-ranked Baylor unbeaten in conference play with a 61-60 victory.
“That wasn’t even close,” Tisdale joked after the game. “We didn’t play that good and Texas played very well. To win that game under those circumstances — it feels really good.”
On the Longhorns ensuing possession, the Lady Bears forced their 26th and final turnover of the game when Brittainy Raven mishandled the ball and it rolled out of bounds to seal Baylor’s 12th consecutive victory and match the Lady Bears best start in school history at 19-1.
Tisdale’s three-pointer at the end was the Austin senior’s second game-winning 3-pointer of Big 12 conference play. Her first came against Texas A&M University on Jan. 12 from the same spot on the floor.
“It was a good play, and the play was written up well,” junior guard Jhasmin Player said. “We were just patient. When she fired it up, I just felt like I knew it was going to fall.”
