LAWRENCE, Kan. — With 12.8 seconds remaining in the national title game, the Jayhawk faithful bid 20 years of frustration adieu with the Rock Chalk chant.

The Kansas Jayhawks topped the Memphis Tigers, 75-68, Monday night to win the third NCAA championship in school history.

Darrell Arthur led the Jayhawks with 20 points, but Mario Chalmers delivered the game’s biggest shot, a 3-pointer to tie the contest with 2.1 seconds remaining in regulation. Once in overtime, Kansas ran away with the game, thanks to some important defensive stops and a timely pick-pocket by Brandon Rush.

Chris Douglas-Roberts led the Tigers with 22 points on 7-for-16 shooting.
