LOS ANGELES — Walking around campus, Tanya Lind has no trouble blending in.
She’s a junior majoring in psychology at USC.
She enjoys spending time outdoors, going to the beach and reading.
Nothing unusual, right?
With a charming girl-next-door look, Lind could pass as any other student, except she engages in one extraordinary extracurricular activity: She was a top 10 finalist in the 2008 Miss Playboy Mobile Competition.
From April 1 to 3, Lind, along with nine other finalists from around the country, traveled to Las Vegas, where they participated in the Grand Finale Week of the Miss Playboy Mobile Competition.
The girls competed for a $5,000 cash prize and a photo shoot at the Playboy Mansion.
Over the course of three days, the contestants attended a press conference, did a number of photo shoots and attended a gala where the contest winner was crowned. The gala also served as a forum for the girls to discuss the launch of Playboy’s new mobile line with members of the media.
More than 1,000 girls submitted applications to this new online extension of Playboy Entertainment Group.
According to Playboy, this new website is aimed at extending the presence of the Playboy Empire, which already includes a magazine, TV channel, radio station, website and Playboy Mobile.
While Playboy Mobile might be a newcomer to the industry, this isn’t Lind’s first rendezvous with the media magnet.
Last year, she posed for Playboy magazine, saying “it’s one of those things to do before you’re 30; something you can only do when you’re young.”
