Heroic. A word Christopher Suh never thought would describe him, but this OU parking control assistant never thought he would save a woman’s life.
Early March 14, Suh was driving around a Health Science Center parking lot near the 1500 block of N. Phillips St. looking for parking violations. As he was pulling out of the parking lot he first heard a woman’s scream.
“I didn’t realize what was happening at first,” Suh said. “I just heard the screaming and then I saw them.”
Two rottweilers were attacking a woman as her friend watched in horror, unable to stop the dogs.
Suh said the dogs were dragging the woman down the sidewalk while the other swung her purse, wildly hitting the dogs in a vain attempt to scare them away.
Suh jumped out of his vehicle and ran toward the scene, picking up a large stick on the way.
“I had a stick and I was yelling and kicking at the dogs to get them off the lady,” Suh said.
The dogs let go of the woman, identified in the police report as Zhong Xiauling, but did not retreat far.
“The dogs were still there, and I waited there for a second attack,” Suh said. “I made the ladies sit down, and I got between them and the dogs with my stick.”
