Officials at St. Xavier University in Chicago sent students home Friday after a series threatening messages were found in the bathroom of a freshman dorm. The Catholic university is closed indefinitely as police investigate the threats, the most recent of which read “Prepare to die on 4/14.”
St. Xavier is located less than 100 miles from Northern Illinois University, where a gunman entered a lecture hall on Feb. 14 and opened fire, killing 5 students and wounding 18 more.
The college’s 5700 students were asked to leave campus by noon on Saturday, April 12.
