COLUMBIA, Mo. — The Missouri football team is in fighting form in the final week of spring practice.
Four fights broke out in Tuesday’s practice, including one between wide receiver Jeremy Maclin and defensive back Carl Gettis.
During a drill, Maclin caught a pass from Daniel and was tackled into the end zone by Gettis. When the players stood up again, Gettis kept hold of Maclin, resulting in a pushing match, which ended up with both players on the ground before it was eventually broken up.
“We just get frustrated a little bit,” Maclin said. “He wouldn’t let me go, so my temper started flaring. That’s the thing about it though, it stays on the field, and it doesn’t go back into the locker room.”
Coach Gary Pinkel called the fights “bush league.”
“It doesn’t happen very often around here, but I had a few words of wisdom about that after practice.”
The Tigers will conclude spring practice Saturday with the annual Black and Gold Game.
