Last fall, a woman accused two U. Iowa football players of rape. The men have since been charged and no longer play for the Hawkeyes, but the University is now under fire for allegedly trying to cover up the case. This week, the state Board of Regents voted to re-examine the investigation into the rape after evidence that concerns of the woman’s family were not addressed. Search warrants in alleged U. Iowa Hillcrest assault paint grisly picture
The alleged victim of a reported Hillcrest sex-assault case involving two former Hawkeye football players told police she hardly remembers the night but does recall telling one of the accused to stop having sexual intercourse with her, according to recently released search warrants.

Hillcrest assault at U. Iowa still under wraps
More than six months after police searched the dorm rooms of Hawkeye football players possibly involved in an alleged sexual assault, no charges have been filed.
Six search warrants related to the case have been sealed four times from the public since Nov. 16, 2007, most recently on May 9 for 60 more days. The documents, though, may never be released, and officials are largely declining to comment on the alleged incident. The accuser’s father said he was advised not to offer comment as well.

U. Iowa assault probe moves ahead
Though there is still no word on its outcome, the investigation into an alleged sexual assault at Hillcrest has been officially transferred to the Johnson County County Attorney’s Office, Charles Green, the assistant vice president for the UI police, confirmed on Thursday.

U. Iowa assault coverage draws concern
UI President Sally Mason asked the media last week to be respectful during an alleged sexual-assault investigation that might involve three Hawkeye football players.
“I don’t want to compromise any investigations or further harm the victim in any of this,” she said. “I would hope the media, in particular, would be respectful until the investigation is done.”

3 U. Iowa football players questioned in alleged assault
Area authorities investigated Hillcrest Wednesday on reports that three football players might be involved in a sexual assault that allegedly occurred in the residence hall Oct. 14.
The three players are being questioned in connection with the reported crime, according to a UI news release. As of Wednesday, authorities had not made any arrests and did not release any details on the alleged victim or identity of the players.
