SYRACUSE, N.Y. — The Syracuse track and field team is used to being split up. On any given weekend, various parts of the team compete in different locales throughout the country. This weekend though, the team was separated by something other than a scheduled meet: Federal airline regulations.

KINGSTON, R.I. — The University of Rhode Island athletics department Monday announced plans to cut the field hockey and men’s tennis and swimming teams due to budget cuts within the department. Additionally, the women’s lacrosse team will not become a varsity program as had been planned.
